What Types of Sprout Seeds Can I Grow?
If you've ever lacked a garden and have yearned to grow some of your own plants then consider sprouting!
Sprouting is one of the easiest ways to grow food at home because it requires very little space, can be done indoors at any time of year, saving you time, space and money.
Growing sprouts is easy, however the toughest part is to choose what to grow.
The following is a short list of sprouts that are highly popular to grow as sprouts due to the ease of growing them as well as the flavour.
- Alfalfa;
- lentil;
- mung bean;
- mustard;
- green pea;
- brocoli;
- radish;
- red clover;
- black sunflower;
- chick pea;
- onion;
- quinoa
This is not an exhaustive list of seeds, it is only designed to get you started so that you can have a taste of a few different varieties. As a matter of fact, you could potentially sprout using most seeds, the rule of thumb is the larger the seed the better it is for sprouting.
When choosing seeds, we recommend choosing seeds that are in your local area, organic and are as newly harvested as possible. You may have more problems with germinating older seeds.
